	"Tango Brasileiro" - Frank French(A complete description of this CD can be found at the VIRIDIANA PRODUCTIONS WebSite) Frank French plays 14 pieces by turn-of-the-century Brazilian composer Ernesto Nazareth. A contemporary of Scott Joplin, Nazareth has been considered "The Joplin of Brazil". Although not strictly ragtime, his music has strongly influenced the contemporary "Terra Verde" movement. French again gives a masterful performance.
	"American Originals" - Frank French(A complete description of this CD can be found at the VIRIDIANA PRODUCTIONS WebSite) Frank French plays 12 pieces by Louis Moreau Gottschalk. I include this recording here because, although preceding the ragtime era by 30 years, Gottschalk's music had a profound influence on American Music in the following decades. French's performance of this virtuoso music is masterful.
	"Solo Piano" - Brian Keenan Brian Keenan is a young (23) man with a wonderful talent and an important rising star in the world of Terra Verde music. I bought this CD for just one track, "North Star", one of his many original compositions. What I got was a beautiful collection of piano masterpieces.

Nine tracks (56 minutes) of beautifully rendered original piano compositions by Keenan, Fred Hoeptner ("Aura of Indigo" is my favorite track), Colm O'Brien, and Jack Rummel.

Hal Izbitz is an important composer of Terra Verde and John Arpin a marvelous pianist who plays this hauntingly beautiful music to perfection.

	"Novarags" - John Novacek John Novacek is relatively unknown in ragtime circles. He is a classical pianist who loves to play and compose ragtime. This CD is jammed (74+ minutes) with 23 tracks of impeccably played classic ragtime and many of his wildly intoxicating original rags. Some tracks are accompanied by his brother Steven on guitar. You must hear this CD to believe it.

	"Joplin: The Red Back Book" - New England Conservatory Ragtime Ensemble Another messed-up Amazon listing, but I found it for you. The Red Back Book was a collection of Joplin's own orchestral arrangements and the NECRE plays them superbly. ONLINE SOUND CLIPS.
	"On The Boardwalk" - Paragon Ragtime Orchestra I was suprised to find this one on Amazon.com, it's a rare recording. Paragon plays 20 classic and tin pan alley ragtime pieces.
	"The Whistler And His Dog" - Paragon Ragtime Orchestra Amazon carries BOTH of Paragon's CD's! Here are 18 more wonderful tracks of orchestral ragtime.
	"Ragtime - Scott Joplin, James P. Johnson" - William Bolcom and William Allbright Here's another rare recording. Although Johnson's music is really Stride, Allbright plays 5 selections impeccably. Bolcom plays 5 Joplin Rags.
	"The Ragtime Dance - Scott Joplin" - Daniel Blumenthal Blumenthal plays 16 of Joplin's more popular titles.
	"Ragtime Classics Played By Wally Rose" - Wally Rose Wally Rose and the Lu Watters Yerba Buena Jazz Band were responsibile for the ragtime revival of the 1940's (Like "The Sting" was for the '70's). Here is classic ragtime played with a strong jazz and stride influence by my favorite ragtime pianist of that era. A 10-track LP re-issue on CD.
	"Roots of Ragtime" - Dick Zimmerman Here's a bargain-priced offering by one of contemporary ragtime's formost pianist/historians.
	"Greatest Ragtime Of The Century" - Various Artists A recording of player piano rolls played by the most famous names in ragtime and stride - Joplin, Blake, Morton, Waller, Johnson and others. Sure it's only piano rolls but they are historically siginificant. This will be your only chance to hear Joplin play his own pieces. He never made acoustic recordings.
	"The Complete Works Of Scott Joplin [BOX SET]" - Dick Zimmerman A 5-disk compilation of all of Joplin's works - Songs, rags, & operas. The recordings are not state-of-the-art but you'll find some of this material nowhere else.
	"Ragime Guitar: Ten Classic Rags" - Unknown Artist Amazon.com credits this album to Scott Joplin and Joseph Lamb(!) OK, whatever you say, guys. I bet Joplin and Lamb never touched a guitar in their whole life. I don't own this album (yet) but the sound clips sold it for me. I wish I knew who is playing. (I will soon - I ordered it) Bargain Price
	"Rags and Other Riches" - Alan Mandel 20 tracks of solid performances of Classic and Contemporary ragtime. I know of nowhere else to find ALL 5 of Artie Matthew's Pastime Rags. There's everything on here - 3 Zez Confrey Novelty numbers, 2 Donald Ashwander compositions, some Joseph Lamb, 2 Sousa pieces(!), even some boogie-woogie. It's great.
	"Scott Joplin Ragtime Rarities" - John Arpin John Arpin is one of my favorite ragtime pianists. Here he gives his own tasteful interpretations of 18 Joplin Classics. ONLINE SOUND SAMPLES
	"Memories Of You" - Eubie Blake A volume from the Biograph "Rare Piano Rolls" series, this is a recording of 15 Eubie Blake piano rolls.
	"Tricky Fingers" - Eubie Blake This is a CD re-release of an LP recorded some time in the early 1980's. There are no liner notes and the Track listing is inaccurate, (since when is there a "SIDE ONE" and "SIDE TWO" on a CD?) but it is a worthwhile addition to any Eubie Blake fan's collection.
	"Creole Belles" - New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra 24 tracks of Classic ragtime played by a vintage ragtime ensemble. Works of Joplin, Morton, Blake, and others. ONLINE SOUND SAMPLES
	"Ragtime Man" - Max Morath You must have at least one Max Morath album in your collection. Max has been on the ragtime scene for over 50 years and has contributed greatly to it's appreciation.
	"The Ragtime Women" - Max Morath Max pays tribute to the women composers of classic ragtime. 10 tracks
	"1995 U.S Tour in New Orleans" - Ophelia Ragtime Orchestra Morten Gunnar Larsen's ragtime orchestra from Norway is a first rate ragtime ensemble. Don't miss this rare recording.
	"Phantom Fingers" - Alex Hassan Marvelous pianist Alex Hassan plays 16 tracks of wonderful novelty and novelty style pieces. This CD contains a little bit of everything from Billy Mayerl to Burton Lane, all played with meticulous style and grace.
	"Billy Mayerl Rediscoveries, Volume One" - Alex Hassan Alex Hassan plays Billy Mayerl transcriptions and songs plus 13 selections by German novelty composer Lothar Perl. It's all wonderful stuff and it's extremely rare to hear these pieces played with such precise yet feeling style if ever they are played at all.
	"Billy Mayerl Rediscoveries, Volume TWO" - Alex Hassan A full (71+ minutes) CD of marvelous novelty-piano music. You get Billy Mayerl, Ivor Novello, Billy Golwyn and other obscure novelty composers from the 20's. Thanks to Alex for saving this wonderful music from obscurity.
	"Nimble Fingered Gentleman" - Tony Caramia Caramia gives us a full disk of Billy Mayerl masterpieces. Caramia's interpretations are masterful if somewhat schmaltzy. Mayerl was a contemporary of Gershwin and although they were separated by the Atlantic ocean (Mayerl was English), their music has many similarities. I sometimes wonder if one was copying from the other. Who stole from whom always makes for interesting musical conversation.
	"British Light Music - Billy Mayerl" - Ball, Carpenter(?) Amazon.com has this listed with Billy Mayerl the performer. I think not! Thank goodness for the ONLINE SOUND CLIPS or I would have passed this one over. These are piano/orchestra performances of some of Billy Mayerl's more well known pieces. They are truly outstanding and representative of the era's music.
	"Puppets - A Tribute to Billy Mayerl" - Eric Parkin Parkin is an accomplished classical pianist who plays novelty with great skill and feeling.
	"Scallywag - A Further Tribute to Billy Mayerl" - Eric Parkin Amazon only lists 3 tracks for this CD. There are MANY more! Wonderful music!
	"Mayerl: Piano Transcriptions Vol 2" - Eric Parkin These are transcriptions Mayerl made of other composer's music. They showcase his great arranging talent. Parkin gives beautiful renditions.
	"Mayerl: Piano Transcriptions Vol 3" - Eric Parkin Another disc of masterful Mayerl transcriptions wonderfully performed by Parkin.
	"Billy Mayerl-Robots" - Eric Parkin Yet another disc of masterful Mayerl original compositions. Bargain price.
	"Razor Blades - Tricks & Treats at the Piano" - Earles Jones Jones' masterful renditions of these classic and contemporary novelty pieces are a treat to the ear. Bargain price.
	"Sophisticated Innocence - Novelty Piano Solos" - Lincoln Mayorga Amazon lists this CD as containing only 4 tracks. It has MANY more. Mayorga plays a large array of composers on this disk - from Zez Confrey to Louis Moreau Gottschalk. Gottschalk's music is novelty? No, but "LeBanjo" certainly contains novelty elements.
	"Kitten on the Keys - Ragtimes & Novelties" - Guido Nielsen Amazon lists this CD as containing only 4 tracks. It has MANY more. Nielsen plays everything from Scott Joplin to Felix Arndt.
	"Keyboard Wizards Of The Gershwin Era, Vol.IV" - Zez Confrey Amazon lists this CD as containing only 4 tracks. It has MANY more. The "Keyboard Wizards" project seeks to preserve vintage recordings from the 20's and 30's. Here's a disk of vintage Zez Confrey piano and instrumental Novelty pieces performed by the composer himself. A great collector's item.
	"Keyboard Wizards Of The Gershwin Era, Vol.I" - Pauline Alpert Amazon really has this listed wrong. It indicates Lizst and Rimsky-Korsakov as the composers and only 3 tracks on the CD. Those composers are represented on one track each but the music is given a Novelty treatment by Alpert. Pauline Alpert was a pianist of superstar status during the 1920's. Her recordings, restored here, are testimony to that fact. A great collector's item.
	"Keyboard Wizards of the Gershwin Era Vol III" - Arden & Ohman Arden & Ohman piano duets must be heard to be believed. A good variety of Piano and ensenble music make it interesting. A great collector's item.
	"Keyboard Wizards of the Gershwin Era Vol VII" - Raie DaCosta If you were to have just one selection from the "Keyboard Wizards" series, this is it! Raie DaCosta has been saved from obscurity by Alex Hassan who supplied all the recordings for this CD compilation from his extensive library. DaCosta's keyboard dexterity is amazing. She was destined to be another superstar when her life was cut short in her mid-20's. A great collector's item.
	"The Original James P. Johnson 1942-1945" - James P. Johnson These rare recordings from late in the career of James P. have been saved from oblivion. These takes are some of the best from stridemaster Johnson. Every stride fan should have this cd. It contains the recording of "Snowy Mornin' Blues" upon which I based my MIDI sequence. I consider that recording to be the best 3 minutes JPJ stride ever recorded. Even the "alternate take" of "Snowy Mornin'" included on the CD doesn't even come close. Johnson recorded many of his compositions several times during his career. None of them were ever played the same. ONLINE SOUND SAMPLES

Although mostly modern jazz interpretations, Dick does a nice rendition of James P. Johnson's "Carolina Shout" and offers a rare performance of Ernesto Nazareth's 1905 composition, "Odeon". 	"Stride Piano Summit: A Celebration Of Harlem Stride Piano" - Dick Hyman and others Dick Hyman, Mike Lipskin, Jay McShann, and Ralph Sutton strut their stuff in this live concert recording. Great stride piano from the contemporary masters of the idiom.
	"The Complete Pablo Solo Masterpieces [BOX SET]" - Art Tatum The ultimate gift for the jazz piano fan - 7 discs!. Art Tatum's style transcends jazz and stride and takes it to a level never again to be reached by mere mortals. I treasure this collection and listen to it often. It is inspiring. The music may be purchased separately on individual discs but the set comes with a biographical/music analysis folio which is almost as valuable as the music. The set also includes 3 tracks not included on the original single disks. The song order and tracks per disc is also different on the set.
